EnviroLastic® Potable Water Polyurea

Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings group’s General Polymers division now offers EnviroLastic® Polyurea coatings for use in the water and wastewater industries. EnviroLastic Polyurea coatings are part of Sherwin-Williams new ExpressTech™ family of coatings engineered to improve end-user productivity by saving facilities owners and coatings applicators time and money on coating jobs.

EnviroLastic Polyurea coatings are stateof-the-art, rapid-return-to-service finishes that allow coated substrates to be returned to use in just minutes, significantly reducing downtime. The coatings combine tensile strength and elongation properties with low permeability and high impact resistance, making them ideal where a tough, flexible liner is needed.

Sherwin-Williams AR 520 PW Potable Water Polyurea is USDA acceptable and UL approved to ANSINSF 61 Standard with a minimum tank size of 50 gallons. The no VOC, no-odor coating dries tack-free in as little as 45 seconds. The coating may be applied at temperatures as low as -20 degrees F and in high humidity. It offers excellent adhesion and may be used in both primary and secondary containment, including as an alternative to fiberglass liners and other mat reinforced systems.

EnviroLastic Polyurea coatings are ideal liners for most water tanks, including salt water, and will hold up to most acid gasses produced at waste treatment plants. The coatings are also recommended for lining large diameter pipes, clear wells and process tanks for potable water and nonpotable water, basins and reservoirs, lift stations and reserve fire water tanks. A broad selection of EnviroLastic Polyurea coatings is available from Sherwin-Williams General Polymers division to assure a solution to the coatings problem in any water or wastewater environment.

Fast Clad HB Acrylic

Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings group is introducing Fast Clad® HB Acrylic as part of its new ExpressTech® coatings family. Sherwin-Williams ExpressTech coatings are engineered to improve enduser productivity by helping facilities owners and coatings applicators save time and money on coating.

Fast Clad HB Acrylic is a single-component, one-coat acrylic that cuts costs in new construction or maintenance projects by eliminating the need for two or three-coat systems. The coating offers 5-8 mils dft in a single coat. It can be applied over organic or inorganic zinc-rich primers, a variety of other primers or directly to prepared steel. (Conventional acrylics generally cannot be applied at greater than 2-3 mils dft, thereby necessitating two acrylic coats over the primer.)

Fast Clad HB Acrylic offers outstanding early moisture resistance. In just one hour at 77 degrees F, it dries to touch to a chemical- and corrosion-resistant finish with superior gloss and color retention. The fast-turnaround coating is ideal for use by the power generation, electric utility and other industries for structural steel, machinery, storage tanks, equipment, piping and other uses.

All of the ExpressTech coatings offer significant benefits, either by reducing application and labor costs, providing faster throughput, faster return to service of equipment, faster stack times in fabrication shops and lower VOC emissions.

FasTop™ Slurry and Mortar Systems

New from Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings group’s General Polymers division are FasTop™ Slurry and Mortar systems, two seamless, highly durable, fast curing, water-based industrial floor coatings ideal for pharmaceutical and USDAinspected facilities.

FasTop S is a high solids, water-based urethane modified cementitious slurry recommended for use where the existing substrate is in good condition. It can be finished with decorative quartz broadcast or sand. FasTop M is a water-based urethane cementitious mortar system recommended for areas where the substrate requires resurfacing or sloping. It can be installed without a topcoat, increasing the speed at which the floor can be returned to service in as little as 6-8 hours.

Both FasTop S and FasTop M are impact and abrasion resistant. They will not blister due to moisture from within the substrate and can be counted on to provide long lasting durability even in very harsh environments, making them ideal for industrial manufacturing and kitchen applications, such as those found in food and beverage processing facilities.
