Green Machines

The clean energy movement has resulted in the proliferation of wind farms, such as one protected with a “green” Sherwin-Williams coating system near Fluvanna, Texas.

Low-VOC coatings for a steel building and a potable water tank and a floor coating for an assembly area

Remember when “green” referred to a color spec?

Today, any mention of green in the industrial coatings industry usually relates to environmental matters. At Sherwin- Williams, we are committed to the research and development of environment-friendly, high-performance products, and our green initiatives include improvements in manufacturing and distribution processes as well.

However, we recognize that providing our customers with green coatings solutions must also help keep their bottom lines from turning red.

While many manufacturers can make paint that meets compliance standards, the challenge lies in making the usage of these products both practical and profitable. Our customers think we’re on the right track. For example, when Bergen Southwest Steel was awarded the contract to finish 128 towers for a clean-energy wind farm in Texas, their challenge was two-fold. They had to move fast to meet an ambitious production schedule, but still keep a tight rein on VOC emissions due to local environmental regulations.

A fast-drying Sherwin-Williams system that began with a prime coat of Dura-Plate UHS epoxy primer allowed fabricators not only to finish their work efficiently but attain complete compliance with their local regulations as well.

Running a profitable, environmentally responsible industrial coatings operation can be a challenge. But with Sherwin- Williams, rest assured that you’ll have a partner that’s dedicated to helping you turn green into gold.
